Health Problems Being Addressed

Tuberculosis/Malaria
India has the highest rate of TB in the world, with approximately 350,000 deaths each year. The average cost of one TB regimen is $60. There is an increase in malaria cases after several years of decline with more than 50,000 deaths each year. The average cost of one malaria regimen is $30.

HIV/AIDS
India has the highest number of HIV/AIDS cases of any country in the world with some areas said to be in an epidemic condition. The HIV/AIDS treatment regimen prolongs the quality and length of life, but does not cure the disease. Each regimen averages $150.

Cervical Cancer (Carcinoma Cervix)
It is estimated that 70% of the poor women living in the rural areas of India will contract cervical cancer sometime during their lifetime. This is due primarily to malnutrition and hygiene problems. The hospital performs hysterectomies to cure the cancer on a regular basis. The lives of several thousand women have been saved by this surgery and other treatments. The cost of this surgery averages $120. The economic impact alone from these diseases is enormous. The Indian Government is thankful for Non-Government Organizations (NGO’s) such as our Mission Hospital to help control these diseases. In addition to the above, other diseases are treated and many other surgeries are routinely performed. The economic impact alone from these diseases is enormous.
