In 2004, the Mission Hospital began publishing a booklet on sexual abstinence to help combat HIV/AIDS in India, which has the highest “number” of cases of the disease of any country. The title of the book is Follow Jesus, Prevent AIDS; subtitled “The biblical basis for sexual abstinence to avoid AIDS.” Since 2004, the booklet has been published in 22 languages of India. As of the end of 2007, more than 3.7 million copies have been distributed. Because of the value of the booklet, an Indian State Government has subsidized some of the printing costs. The booklet has also been published for use in Myanmar and Sri Lanka and in eight countries of sub-Saharan Africa.
